Global Track is a three-year pathway within the UH Mānoa Doctor of Architecture program. Students begin and complete the program in Honolulu, spend the second academic year at Tongji University in Shanghai, and participate in professional practice or research experiences during the intervening summers. The sequence below represents the typical program structure; specific course locations, partners, and schedules may change by cohort.
Year 1, Honolulu Fall: 12 credits at UH Mānoa Spring: 12 credits at UH Mānoa
Summer 1, United States Eight-week professional practicum at a partner firm, 6 credits
Year 2, Shanghai with UH Mānoa faculty
Fall: 15 credits at Tongji University
Spring: 15 credits at Tongji University
Master's thesis at Tongji with Tongji faculty
Summer 2, Asia
Eight-week professional practicum with the design institute, 6 credits
Year 3, Honolulu
Fall: 12 credits at UH Mānoa Spring: 12 credits at UH Mānoa, doctorate project defense, DArch conferred
