GT14 Day Trip to Suzhou
GT14 took a day trip from Shanghai to Suzhou, exploring the city with Clark and experiencing its distinctive mix of architecture, landscape, history, and daily life.
The group visited sites such as the Suzhou Museum, the Humble Administrator’s Garden, and the Master of the Nets Garden, where students observed the connection between traditional Chinese architecture and meticulously crafted landscapes. The visit provided insight into how space, nature, and movement are integrated in Suzhou’s historic settings, featuring framed views, intimate courtyards, gardens, water, and pathways.
The day continued along Shantang Street, where the group explored the city’s canals, shops, cuisine, and nighttime ambiance. This trip was more than just a break from studio work; it offered GT14 a chance to learn through travel, experience a new place together, and draw inspiration beyond the classroom.
