Student Project Spotlight: Li Wenzhu

In the Fall 2020 Arch 744 studio project Global Track student Li Wenzhu readapted an existing 60 year old Shanghai housing block into a self-sufficient and sustainable community that produces its own food and clean energy. This adaptive reuse project focusses on a major area of need as many of Shanghai's housing blocks continue to age. In what ways can we make our existing buildings and communities more sustainable for the future, particularly those buildings that already exist.

Sustainable Architect Carl Elefante has said "The greenest building is the one that is already built." WenZhu's efforts build upon Elefante's message.
