Global Track Students Recognized in ACSA Steel Competition

We are thrilled to announce that three teams of Global Track students received honorable mention recognition in the 2020 ACSA Steel Competition.

Teams of students enrolled in the Spring 2020 ARCH 750 studio taught by Clark Llewellyn each developed projects for submission into the Urban Food Hub category of the competition. In a remarkable showing, all three teams in the studio were recognized.

The recognition means that their projects placed among the top 9 of all entries. Competition organizers informed Global Track that there were over 200 projects entered and over 900 student participants representing architecture programs from schools all over the United States and Canada.

Below is a list of the teams and their respective projects:

Project: Hongkou Hub - Sustainable Community Farming in Urban Shanghai

Team: Richie Robinson, Bruce White, Feifan Chen, Wenzhu Li

Project: Shanghai Food Bridge

Team: Zhou Yifan, Sydney Foster, Connie Kwan

Project: Shanghai Food Basket

Team: Angus Lin, Janica Domingo, Li Bingjie, An Guo

Especially notable is the fact that these teams of students collaborated on their projects 100% remotely without a single in person work session or meeting; navigating different countries and time zones in order to communicate and develop their designs.

We are proud of our students' efforts and the way they've represented the Global Track program as well as the University of Hawaii School of Architecture.
